We ate crackers and cheese. Larry read about Bayard Rustin’s experience being on a chain gang. Bayard was arrested for sitting in the wrong seat on a bus. Alexa brought photos of her trip to a Proposition 8 protest in Berkeley California. We discussed a recent Journal article about the history of the KKK in Ithaca. Larry described how someone wrote swastikas on cars in his neighborhood last week (see his blog post).

we had a race to get to the cafe. we played the singing cup and talked about violence in schools and in prisons and we read from speak truth to power and for snack today we had muffins and apples

This week we talked about how “letting your life speak” can also mean listening to hear what your life has to say to you. We talked about each of our names (where it comes from, what it means, and whether we think it shapes us). We also talked a little about dreams and about whether there are other universes with life like ours — basically, about unanswerable questions and how we usually go about looking to answer them.
Also, Asa brought an awesome snack probably meant for 12 people and somehow the 5 of us managed to eat the whole thing!
